Position Overview

Sage School is a school for students with language learning differences like dyslexia. A qualified individual must be committed to living a Christ centered life and demonstrate the fruit of the spirit while performing daily duties. He/she must be devoted to the long-term success of our students by working with administration, faculty, families and students to support the mission of the school. All teaching staff are under the direction and responsibility of the Head of School.

Professional Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college or university is required.
  • A Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education is preferred.
  • Two or more years of classroom teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of educational technology (hardware and software) is required.
  • Availability to complete initial 70 hours of coursework and/or Associate level training and practicum through The Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators is required.

  • Possess the ability to work gracefully with parents, students, and other school staff to develop a unified and successful educational program.
  • Demonstrate the ability to accept and carry out responsibilities and make competent, professional decisions.
  • Be willing to eagerly participate in professional development.
  • Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and be prepared to assist them in that task.
  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide planning, instruction, and assessment in Grades K-6.
  • Use technology in all aspects of teaching duties and responsibilities.
  • Have a willingness and ability to assist in school events, programs, and extra-curricular activities.
  • Maintain clear, open, and professional communication with parents.
  • Work with administration to keep parents adequately informed of student achievement and discipline.
  • Integrate Biblical principles and perspectives throughout all curriculums.
  • Love and embrace the learning style and inherent strengths of our students.
  • Be diligent in achieving a working knowledge of dyslexia.
  • Utilize the OG approach in all subjects, as observed by OG fellows, Head of School, and Administration.
